Apple Support is now available on Twitter

Apple Support is now available on Twitter.

The account, @AppleSupport, claims it will provide “tips and tutorials” from the company’s t-shirted Apple Advisors. Since launching this morning the account has replied to more than 420 queries and been followed by 41,000 Twitter users. At the time of writing, @AppleSupport is responding to a question every 26 seconds.

Apple has been somewhat slow at taking to Twitter. The company still doesn’t have a central Twitter account — @Apple has never tweeted, but still has 37,000 followers — but it does use the likes of @Beats1, @AppleMusic and @iTunes.

@AppleSupport looks like a standard Twitter support account, with nameless helpers responding to questions from disgruntled Apple customers. So far, most of its replies have asked people to send direct messages for further help.

Apple’s belated entry into Twitter customer support follows a fairly typical model. Twitter’s decision to drop the 140-character limit on DMs has made it easier for businesses to respond to customer queries. It isn’t clear how many people are running the service, but the account does claim to be based in Cupertino.

The @AppleSupport Twitter account follows on from the introduction of @AppleMusicHelp and Apple’s takeover of @BeatsSupport, the customer service account for Beats products.
